Rita Reed, MFA
The recipient of a BS in Art Education from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, Rita also pursued studies in art and education at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and Charlotte; North Carolina State University, Raleigh; Queens College, Charlotte, North Carolina; and received her MFA degree from Winthrop University, Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Ritas art career is varied, including artist for the United States Coast Guard HQ, assigned to portray current and historical events reflecting the services contribution to national defense, and life search and rescue missions.

She is commissioned by the United States Naval Institute, Annapolis, Maryland, to paint selected portraits for their Sea Head Series honoring retiring commandants of each sea-going United States service. Rita has also been commissioned by NASA HQ to portray pre-launch and launch activities at Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Rita is also the recipient of the United States Coast Guards George Gray Award of Excellence. She is included in Whos Who of American Women, Personalities of the Americas and International Biographical Center Cambridge, England.
